Vintage Ornaments Quilt-Along

Hello! It’s definitely being a long time since I’ve shared what I’ve been up to!

Last Fall I released my latest Christmas collection at Quilt Market in Houston and it’s now arriving in stores. This collection brings back warm memories of wonderful Christmas times with the boys in a quite little town we lived in many years ago. I drew little houses, a favorite subject of mine, sweet snowmen, holiday trees, and couldn’t resist adding little cars and bikes with trees and gifts, of course, also had to have a few snowflakes, and my favorite colors, aqua and green. I designed three new patterns for the collection, Mulberry Lane, Snow Crystal, and Winter Star, and I’ve also designed a fun Quilt-Along featuring Mulberry Lane, called Vintage Ornaments on WeAllSew, the BERNINA blog.

Over the next six months I’ll be sharing the patterns and tips to my favorite technique, fusible applique, and hope you will join the fun! You may be able to purchase a kit for the project at your local quilt shop… ask them to order Mulberry Lane from Contempo/Benartex if they don’t already have it in stock! Or you could contact my local BERNINA dealer in Baton Rouge, My Sewing Shoppe to order yours.

I am also happy to share some pre-cuts of Mulberry Lane… what do you think?

Leave a comment and tell me which of my new Mulberry Lane patterns you like best

and your name will be added to the drawing. Two winners will be chosen on Sunday, June 18th!

Hugs,

Cherry

my happy place…

A little fabric, some thread, 70’s music playing in the background, sweet Emmie at my feet, and my favorite BERNINA 880 makes for a very happy place!

Welcome to my day in the BERNINA Ambassador Blog Tour! A huge thanks to fellow Ambassador, Teri Lucas for organizing this hop.

My beautiful, and oh so talented mother, introduced me to sewing at age 4, and even though I’ve enjoyed a few arts and crafts over the years, quilting has been the most fun and relaxing of all. At age six I inherited mom’s “brown” sewing machine and eventually her “good” scissors, and always asked for “fabric” treats when my parents went out, so you can just imagine how exiting it was to become a fabric designer with Benartex fabrics and a BERNINA Ambassador!I took my first quilting class summer of 2004 and wanted to learn to applique, but my sewing machine didn’t feature the right stitches suggested for the technique, so I needed a new sewing machine! I bought one that didn’t work as hoped, so on my way back from returning it, spotted the BERNINA dealer and you can just imagine what happened next… I brought home a sweet Activa 220… well, today I am so blessed to sew with the awesome B880… …and my assistant approves!

Yes, it has the perfect stitch for applique, many beautiful stitch options, stadium lighting, a huge throat space that makes quilting a pleasure, plus many more incredible features!

Fast forward a few years, and now I get to spend my days designing fabric, quilt patterns, embroidery collections, traveling to teach my favorite quilting techniques, and sharing my love of quilting with my wonderful students.

So glad you stopped by today!

Fall Market 2016

It’s hard to believe Fall Market 2016 has come and gone!

Many years ago, we lived in a charming small town with a street that was always beautifully decorated for the holidays.

I have many warm memories from our time there and it is what inspired me to design my new Contempo fabric line for Benartex,

sweet little snowmen, and lots of snowflakes!

The collection includes a panel with a happy skating snowman.

I will be releasing several new Mulberry Lane patterns and a coordinating embroidery collection with OESD early next year.

One of the fun things to happen at this Market, was that our Benartex Contempo booth, shared by my friend Amanda Murphy and I, won 2nd place!

 Thanks so much for visiting!

Sunday Ride…

I can’t believe Thanksgiving is this week and 2015 is almost over! It’s been a crazy and very busy year, but a wonderful one! Fall Market in Houston was just a few weeks ago and it was such fun visiting with friends and being surrounded by so many amazing people and their beautiful work.

Booth-2015

I shared Benartex’s Contempo booth with my friends Amanda and Sara. New patterns for my new line, Sunday Ride, are on the back, left side, Amanda’s beautiful Christmas line, Sparkle, is on the right, Sarah’s gorgeous line, Transformation, on the front, left side, and on the right you can see Michelle’s Fresh Bloom.

But this time it was really hard to go…

Emmie-1

My sweet Emmie came home just 4 days before I had to leave for Market! She’s a miniature Schnauzer and is a whole 4.6 lbs…

Sunday Ride was inspired by bike rides with my children around our neighborhood…

I really enjoyed making these new designs for Sunday Ride and working with this fun, vibrant line.

Sunday Ride will be in stores in February, and since you stopped by today, would you like to make one of these quilts? They’re super easy and have a touch of hand embroidery to add a bit more detail. I’d like to give a pattern to 4 of my sweet visitors. To enter, leave a comment and tell me which one you like best and why. I’ll choose a winner on Thanksgiving, 11/26 at midnight. I’ll also include a charm pack sampler of Sunday Ride.

Hugs,

Thanks everyone for stopping by and entering!

The winners are: Carol, Sue Ellen, Mello, & Ashley

Frosty Forest

So, while working on Celebrate the Seasons,
I was also creating my new Christmas line with Benartex,
Sammy, my sweet little owl from Night Owl
and his woodland friends were the inspiration for this fun
and vibrant collection

Frosty Forest was released last Fall at Quilt Market in Houston
and you can find it in stores now.
I created these three new applique patterns using the line,
Frosty’s Wonderland, a twin size quilt
Let it Snow, a tree skirt
that would also look awesome as a round runner

and Frosty, a wall hanging…

… I LOVE snowman and just had to have him!
….after that came….
Well, I’ll be back soon,
but I better focus… have several new patterns
to sew up for Sprint Market in May!
Hugs, Cherry
