Spring Market 2016

Well, I’m a bit late telling you about Spring Market, but better late than never, right!

M1

My new fabric collection for Benartex’s Contempo is called Kitchen Love and is all about the heart of the home, the kitchen, inspired by vintage appliances and delicious confections. You’ll find little aprons, delicious words, tea cups and tea pots, mixers, bowls, sweet cupcakes, cherries… in vibrant teals, aquas, greens, a touch of orange and pink, and a black that make for an awesome background print in one of the quilts. There’s even a fun and quick apron panel great for Christmas gifts this year! I created several applique patterns for this collection: Kitchen Love, the quilt in the center of the image above, is a “sweet” quilt with delicious treats, a vintage mixer, scale and clock, cherries and cupcakes, and is embellished with a small amount of hand embroidery and tiny buttons made to coordinate with the fabric. The quilt to the left is one of the quilts in the “Live Simply” pattern pack and includes the “Eat” wall hanging below and four placemats; the wall sign “Home”, the tea pots and tea cups runner, and the little aprons quilt below are part of the “Tea Time” pattern pack. All patterns are now available in my shop.

Let’s Celebrate…

Happy 4th of July!
To celebrate,
I’m sharing this little mug rug pattern
and two of the recipes I made for my Perfect Picnic:
Crawfish Casserole
and Three Story Dream Pie,
also known as Mississippi Mud Pie.
This little Uncle Sam’s Bouquet mug rug
finishes at 6″ x 10″ and
is a super easy and fun little project,
perfect for a gift or quick little decoration!
I made it for a Flickr swap some time ago…

 Have you ever had crawfish?
also called mud-bugs?
They really are good with a little sweet taste
and can be found in the freezer isle of your grocery store,
just make sure you only buy a product of the US…
My Aunt Pearl shared this recipe with me
and it has become one of my favorites!
Crawfish Casserole

Ingredients:
1 lb Crawfish tails (I used a 12oz. pack)
1 can French Onion soup
1 can Cream of Chicken soup
1 cup parboiled rice
1 stick of butter
1/2 cup celery, diced
1/2 cup green bell pepper, diced
1 can Rotel “Original” tomatoes
Mix all ingredients together and bake at 350° F,
covered for 45 minutes,
then uncover and bake 15 minutes.

Now this one is a favorite dessert of everyone in my family…

Three-Story Dream Pie

This pie is made in layers…
Crust:
1 stick of butter, melted
1 cup flour
1 cup pecans, chopped
1 tsp sugar
Blend the flour, sugar, and butter, then add the pecans.
Press onto a 2 quart baking dish and bake at 350° F
for 20-25 minutes. Set aside to cool.
1st Story:
1 cup powdered sugar
1 package cream cheeses (8 oz)
1 cup sour cream
1 tsp vanilla
1 cup whipped topping
Cream the cheese and powdered sugar until smooth;
add the sour cream and vanilla. Blend in the whipped topping.
Spoon this mix over the Crust and spread carefully.
2nd Story:
2  4.5 oz Instant Chocolate Pudding boxes
3 cups milk
1 tsp vanilla
In a mixing bowl, blend the dry chocolate pudding, milk,
and vanilla. Pour over the 1st Story and allow to set.
3rd Story:
2 cups whipped topping
1 Hershey’s chocolate bar
Spread the whipped topping over the 2nd Story
and garnish with grated Hershey’s chocolate,
or use strawberries and blueberries and decorate as an American Flag.
Chill thoroughly and serve.
…yum!
I hope you have an awesome 4th with friends and family!

New pattern and giveaway

Are you ready for an awesome giveaway?
Have you ever made a quilt with
the wonderful and cuddly Shannon Fabrics?
I fell in love with this fabric after making this scarf
And look at these beautiful fabrics…
I absolutely love the bright colors in this line, Izzy
and this one is made with Spice Market
The fabric is very easy to work with,
you just need to use a walking foot to piece,
and after cutting, I found the best thing to do
was take all my cut pieces outside and shake the “cuddle dust” off… Ü
I also kept my vacuum cleaner close by to vacuum often!
You can find more tips for working with this fabric here.
Both quilts are backed with Cuddle fabrics
Love the embossing…
and quilted with my favorite…
These quilts are so comfortable and warm,
they have become favorites in my house!
Would you like to make one of these quilts?
You can find my free pattern here
