Hugs and Kisses…

…and a happy Valentine’s Day to you!
I’m so glad to have you over
on my day in the sweetest hop of the year

A big hug to Mdm. Samm of Sew Wee Quilt
and Soma of  Whims and Fancies for hosting this event
and darling paper piecing pattern.

Today, you’ll find many beautiful and
very inspiring projects created by these ladies:

Feb 14th

Lady Soma

Lady Laura Ann

Lady Doris

Lady Rexie

Lady Shari

Lady Cherry … you are here!

So I started with the idea of making a runner
using 2 sets of Soma’s paper pieced XOs and the heart…
Then mid-way through my runner
I decided I wanted to use more of the fabrics in the layer cake
I used to make the XOXO,
which has been in my stash for a few years
begging to be used, lol!
And since I love chevrons,
I made two rows of easy chevrons with 1/2-square triangles
oh, it just went so fast… loved it!
Of course, I love open spaces for lots of quilting,
so I added a little bit of white fabric,
and this is what my “improvised” project finished as…

then…
I still hadn’t used the little heart!
well, how about a little poem around the heart,
a few borders,
a little quilting…
the results where a perfect
Valentine’s card for my sweetheart!
Tada!

I have a little Valentine’s Treat for one of you too…
a $20 gift certificate to use in my website

To enter, leave a sweet little comment

and I’ll choose a winner Thursday, February 20th.

And you made my heart shine, your quilt is nice but I absolutely XOX your small handing, waouh!!! With the small border around the heart, it just looks gorgeous!

  3. Carla says:

Oh, Cherry, I love both of these. Your quilt is so full of quilty love. You can never have enough chevron goodness. That is the perfect addition to the quilt. Your quilting on the negative space is so pretty.
What a sweet idea to add the poem to the heart. That is thinking out of the box and I love the idea.
    Beautiful work.

Those are some SWEET projects! I love the design change from the table runner to the quilt. Great choice! You can never go wrong with chevrons! And the poem around the heart…. just toooo sweet!

Isn't it great what can happen when our creativity blossoms? Your final quilt is so much more spectacular than the original table runner. I especially like how you offset the X's and O's rather than centering them. Well done. (I'm hoping we see cherry blossoms soon instead of all this snow.) svonfumetti at yahoo dot com

Oh, I love your quilt and your Valentine's card. How were you able to get the writing so close to the edge of the heart? Thanks for sharing your projects. Happy Valentine's Day.

Isn't it fun when a project unfolds itself as you continue to work on it? Love both pieces so much. They are gorgeous and quilting is so beautiful!!

Thank you so much for joining the blog hop!

Oh my goodness your heart quilt and your X's and O's quilt are fabulous. I love how you personalized your heart with the poem encircling it. Thank you sew very much for hopping…

  9. Marjorie Nath says:

Love your paper piecing…you did what I'm usually tempted to do..You kept on expanding on a paper piece design, how big did it end up being? I really like the material that you used.

Your improvisation is delightful! It's both modern and whimsical at the same time. IAnd I love the way you combined those red prints. The quilt just makes me smile. The valentine is great too! Wonderful eye candy. Thanks for sharing.

Wow Cherry, what a statement piece! It states "love me"! Thank you for your generous offer to share in your patterns, I already know what I'd like to get, and if I don't happen to win this drawing, I'm bookmarking for my husband to have ideas for future presents. Thank you for sharing!

You are sooo talented and I I love your sweet little hanging quilt. It's so nice when we are able to take advantage of meeting new people that these Blog Hops allow us to do. Thanks for the giveaway opportunity.

  13. LJ says:

I truly 'love' how your creative mind works. Even though the XOXOs are very sweet and would have made a lovely table runner, the quilt just has so much more punch with lots of white and the chevrons. I did enlarge your valentine so I could read the poem; your special valentine must still be smiling!
