Creative Spaces… Week 6, Day 1

Can you believe it’s Week 6 in our Creative Spaces Blog Hop?

In this last week in the hop our focus is on rulers and tools, and just like fabric, rulers and tool collecting can be hard to resist, right?

My studio is divided into two rooms by a bathroom, and behind the bathroom is this little area that turned into the perfect space to store rulers, tools, stabilizers, etc., of course, it is a little tight, therefore a bit hard to photograph, haha!!

On the right side, I hung peg boards purchased at my local home improvement store, and even though I like to use white paint on most everything, I wanted the peg boards to recede a bit, so I paint them with leftover aqua paint from my walls. They’re hung with spacers to allow room for the pegs. Absolutely love how easy it is to find specific rulers, embroidery hoops, cutting mats, and a few extras.

The little table on the left side holds plastic bins that store tools I don’t use often… my grommet punch and grommets, hot glue gun, button maker……the file sorter on top of the shelf holds small cutting and ironing mats.

I love the two ClosetMaid storage racks my husband hung…It’s so easy to find that specific glue, baggies, or the right size quilting masking tape I may need!We hung a 2′ x 4′ peg board in between the two racks to store other fun finds.

So, how do you store your rulers? Do you have any tips you’d like to share?

I’m so glad you stopped by and hope you’ll visit Tammy, also sharing today!

One more week left to enter our Grand Prize!

If you haven’t enterd, visit this post!

I store my rulers in a drawer, so no tips from me. Your storage area may be “small”, but you sure maximized the space!

I find rulers the hardest thing to store. If they are out of sight, they are out of mind. I love the way you can see yours so easily. I keep the smaller ones in a folder with zippered bags. That way I can also enclose the instructions.

What a great storage spot; I may be a bit green with envy. 🙂 Many of my rulers I store on my cutting table in two of those wooden slotted systems so my rulers stand up. All my specialty rulers I store in gallon size freezer Ziploc bags. I keep the instructions inside the bags so I always know just how I need to use them. I add a piece of 1/4″ foam board inside the bags so they stack more easily and I file them standing on end. I mark the outside top right corner of the bag with the name of the ruler and put those in alphabetical order. This system has really helped me because I was always LOOKING for a specialty ruler and half the time couldn’t remember if I really had it or just thought about purchasing one!!

Once again your sewing space reflects organization which leads to productivity. We will soon be building and I will definitely use some of your ideas. Thanks for taking time to share with us these past few weeks

I love your storage ideas! I actually had no ideas about ruler storage until I read your post. My rulers are all leaning against a wall. And thanks for this whole inspiring blog hop!

I don’t have many rulers so I just store them in an office letter holder organizer. It’s one of those organizers that have the dividers, so I put them in the slots meant to hold letters. It works perfectly.

Wowie..Amazing room!! I only have a few rulers & tools..soa bookcase for some things & set of drawers for smaller stuff. LOVE the pegboard idea! Definitely saving that thought for “someday” 🙂 Thank you for all the sharing! This has been a grrrrreat tour!

You have a great space and have done a beautiful job organizing all your things. Currently my rulers sit in one of those wooden racks (the big rulers), and a small basket for the small ones. They are wedged between a book case and a storage cabinet so they’re not in the way. They’re also not as accessible as I would like, but then, we just have to make do with what we’ve got right? Thanks for sharing your great ideas!!

Very awesome storage space. I don’t think I have nearly as many rulers as you do. I keep most of mine in a slotted rack on top of a shelf. I am collecting more though and running out of space. Hopefully this blog hop will help figure out a different system. I’ve so enjoyed all these posts!

I have one wood ruler rack, but have way more rulers than what will fit on it. So lean or stack or put in a drawer.

Thank you for sharing your storage solutions, I love your storage area. You have given my many good ideas to consider as I plan how to organize and use my sewing space.

I love your storage area! I store most of my rulers on a vertical rack I found at a quilt show. The rest are stored in a rack on my cutting table.

Love the pegboard idea. Completely makes sense if one has any wall space. It would even work great in back of small closet.

I’m finding that I’m horrible in storage concepts. I am always searching for what I need so this whole hop is inspiring me to create a space, own it and keep it out of reach of my honey taking it over. LOL

I wish I had found th9s hop sooner. I plan on turning my master bedroom into my sewing room and I’m looking for inspiration so I get it right. Thanks for a great post
